Six winters of NWS-against-SNOTEL checking found forecast accuracy here turns on an unresolved snow-measurement question (settled snow depth vs. fresh snowfall), not a fixed per-mountain bias anyone can honestly correct. So we show the number NWS publishes and tell you that is what it is.

Storm Day Strategy

Chase powder early in season before conditions deteriorate to firm base. By late February-March, long-range forecasts show minimal snow (described as 'all my skis are rock skis'). Soft snow conditions best within 1-2 days of storm; recommend lapping groomers when off-piste conditions become too firm. Late season strategy should focus on Arapahoe Basin if it receives snow before other resorts, but be prepared for firm conditions. March onwards expect extreme crowds with Ikon unlimited access.
