Warmer air in advance of a Pacific cold front has brought non-snow across the West Central and NW mountains overnight on Tues. Ugh. The cold front will push into the state overnight Weds and on Thurs changing rain showers to snow showers. Trace accumulations up to a few inches are possible across the Northern Rockies. Spring returns with a vengeance this weekend.
Firm, wind-affected snow with a light dense refresh will keep skiing fast and edgeable, but exposed ridges will feel rough and gusty.
Cloudy, cooler conditions with no meaningful new snow will keep skiing firm and fast, with the best feel on groomers.
Building clouds, increasing winds, and developing snow showers will shift conditions back toward softening off-piste with wind-buffed pockets by later in the day.
