Route Options
Pre-researched routes from major origin cities. Drive times are airport → resort.
Primary airport. CLOSEST SKI RESORT TO RENO AIRPORT. Hwy 395/580 South to Hwy 431 (Mt. Rose Highway) West — resort is directly on the highway. Storm conditions 45–90min. Hwy 431 is steep/winding but well-maintained; closures rare (3–5 times/season).
Ground Transport
$35–$60 one way. Very viable given the short distance. Return rides may be harder — limited driver supply on the mountain. No direct shuttle service exists.
Short enough distance that taxi is practical. Pre-arrange return pickup.
Same RNO rental center. Hwy 431 R2 chain controls common in storms. Parking free, ample lot at base, fills by ~10am on powder weekends. AWD/4WD recommended.
Secondary airport. Requires I-80 over Donner Summit to Reno, then Hwy 431. Same I-80 closure risks as other Tahoe resorts.
Ground Transport
On-airport rental center. I-80 Donner Summit plus Hwy 431 — two mountain passes. AWD/4WD recommended.
Alternate airport. 225 miles, 4 hrs clear. Same I-80 concerns plus Hwy 431.
Ground Transport
$60–$140/day for SUV. Huge inventory. Long drive but straightforward.
