Route Options
Pre-researched routes from major origin cities. Drive times are airport → resort.
Primary for flight availability. Massive hub, cheap flights from everywhere. I-70 West through Eisenhower Tunnel and over Vail Pass. Floyd Hill construction through 2029 adds delays. Vail Pass (10,662 ft) is often worst stretch — high winds, closures. Storm conditions 3–5+ hrs. ~30 I-70 closures per winter season.
Ground Transport
$50–$130/day for SUV. LOW to MODERATE sell-out risk. Colorado Traction Law in effect I-70 Sept–May. AWD/4WD ESSENTIAL. Floyd Hill construction zone adds delays.
Shared shuttle DEN to Vail ~$80–$120 one way. CDOT Pegasus van service also available via ridebustang.com. Snowstang does NOT go to Vail.
$150–$300+. Expensive and surge-prone in storms.
Primary convenience airport. Seasonal winter service from ~15 cities (AA, UA, DL). Direct from LAX, ORD, DFW, JFK, MIA, ATL mid-Dec to mid-Apr. Flights pricier than DEN but 35-min drive is a game-changer. Sells out fast when storms forecast. I-70 East from Eagle is valley-floor, rarely closes.
Ground Transport
$40–$80 to Vail. Better availability than expected for a small airport.
Airport shuttle EGE to Vail ~$50–$75 one way. Many Vail hotels offer complimentary EGE shuttles — check when booking. Fresh Tracks also available.
$100–$250/day in ski season (mountain airport premium). HIGH sell-out risk — book 1–2 weeks ahead. Vail parking structures $30–$50/day. Free parking at outlying lots with free bus to village. AWD/4WD recommended.
