Route Options
Pre-researched routes from major origin cities. Drive times are airport → resort.
Most practical airport. US-550 North (Million Dollar Highway) — steep, narrow, avalanche-prone, most dramatic/dangerous drive of any resort in this project. Service from Dallas, Phoenix, Denver.
Ground Transport
ONLY option — no shuttle or transit to Silverton. US-550 has no guardrails, sheer cliffs, avalanche paths. Not for inexperienced mountain drivers. Parking free, small lot. AWD/4WD ESSENTIAL.
Alternate. Over Red Mountain Pass from Ouray — EXTREMELY challenging winter drive. Frequent closures for helicopter avalanche control.
Ground Transport
Red Mountain Pass (11,018 ft) — narrow, no guardrails, avalanche-prone. Closures 2+ hrs common. AWD/4WD essential.
