Route Options
Pre-researched routes from major origin cities. Drive times are airport → resort.
Primary airport. I-70 West to Exit 232 (US-40), then US-40 over Berthoud Pass (11,315 ft). DIFFERENT route than Summit County — Berthoud Pass is steep, winding, avalanche-prone with frequent closures. Storm conditions 2.5–5hrs. Alt route via I-70/Silverthorne/Kremmling adds 3+ hrs but avoids pass.
Ground Transport
BEST TRANSIT OPTION TO ANY CO RESORT. Direct train Denver Union Station to Winter Park slopeside station. ~2 hrs, scenic Moffat Tunnel route. $29–$59 each way. Select Sat/Sun. From DEN: RTD A-Line to Union Station, then Amtrak. No road concerns.
Shared shuttle DEN to Winter Park ~$70–$100 one way. Snowstang does NOT serve Winter Park.
$50–$130/day for SUV. Berthoud Pass traction law enforced, closures 1–3 hrs common during storms for avalanche control. Colorado Traction Law. AWD/4WD essential.
