Storm Day Strategy

Avoid peak morning hours (8-10 AM) when possible as lines can exceed 5 hours for upper mountain access. Afternoon arrival (post-12 PM) provides manageable 5-minute waits. Monitor Spur lift status as it may close and reopen during active storms. Light snow (2 inch) storms see dramatically reduced crowds with untracked terrain available all day. Backcountry (West Shore) excellent 4-day window post-storm. Monitor snow softening by 7K+ elevation; expect chalk to soft transitions. Drive from Truckee only viable very early morning or expect significant traffic delays; base lodging highly recommended for storm day access.
